The book ‘Handbook of Digital 3D Reconstruction of Historical Architecture‘, a handbook on the digital 3D reconstruction of historical architecture, is now available for consultation.
This publication is open access, as part of the Synthesis Lectures on Engineers, Techonology & Society series, and provides answers to questions such as ‘what is a 3D digital model’ or ‘how are they created and what are they used for’.
The manual is a structured compendium with practical instructions, summarised knowledge, explanations of technical terms and useful references that allow an individual introduction to the subject.
Until now, there was no interdisciplinary vocabulary for technical terms in this field, so this book has taken the first step in this direction.
The publication is aimed at students, experts in the field and interested members of the general public.
The presentation of this manual is framed within the different actions linked to the Stellae 5.0 Programme, such as the ECHOES project for the creation of a virtual cloud, the participation of the University of Vigo in the 3DBigDataSpace project or the second edition of the Inter-University Master in Digital Cultural Heritage.
